Huskie Breed History

Designer breeds have emerged as an emerging trend over the last couple of decades. One of the most popular breeds is the Huskimo breed, a cross of dogs like the Siberian Husky and the American Eskimo. The dogs were crossed in the 1990s and even up to 2000, which resulted in those first Huskimo dogs.

The new breeds have been born out of two Huskimo parents. Siberian Husky Siberian Husky was used as a sledding dog, watchdog, and reindeer herder for many centuries by people of the Chukchi tribe. They were the perfect breed for the task because they could withstand extreme conditions. The breed originated from Siberia and was later transported to Alaska through fur traders.

They were involved in Arctic events in Malamute, which they were successful because of their quick speeds. In 1908, these dogs took part in the All-Alaskan Sweepstakes, the longest race in the world, 408 miles long, conducted by dogsled. The race was held in Nome, Alaska. There was an epidemic of diphtheria in the year 1925. These are why Siberian Husky became so popular because they were recognized as a transporter of medicine to the population.

American Eskimos are part of the Spitz family of Nordic breeds. They are closely related to the German Spitz, which was given the name of American Eskimo Dog once they were introduced to America. Other species close to their families comprise their cousins, the Samoyed, White Pomeranian, White Keeshond, and the White Italian Spitz. The White Spitz breeds do not connect to the Eskimo tradition, as they were introduced into their homeland in the United States by German Settlers.
