I work with images. A lot. This website is just a fraction of the graphics design which I do, so I'm picky about the tools I use. If it's not good enough, I wouldn't use it.
The GNU Image Manipulation Program, or GIMP, is an excellent photo and graphics editor which you can freely download and use on several operating systems.
Those who are used to Adobe's PhotoShop program may find a lot in common with the features in the GIMP, and yet there's no cost to use it. You don't have to call up Adobe headquarters just because you replaced your hard drive [?]. You can install it on any number of machines without permission from the creators. Nobody's going to arrest you for talking about its security features [?]. You don't have to spend another couple hundred dollars to upgrade every few years [?].
